Ingredients
- 1 pound breakfast sausage hot or mild
- 1/3 cup flour all purpose
- 3 to 4 cups whole milk
- 1/2 tsp seasoned salt
- 2 tsp pepper, freshly ground
Instructions
- Tear sausage into small pieces and add as a single layer in a large, heavy skillet. Brown sausage over medium-high heat until no longer pink. Reduce heat to medium-low. Sprinkle half the flour and stir so the sausage soaks it all up then add more little by little. Stir it around and cook it for another minute or so then pour in the milk, stirring constantly.
- Cook the gravy stirring until it thickens, 10-12 minutes. Sprinkle in seasoned salt and the pepper. Continue cooking until very thick. It gravy get too thick too soon add another 1/2 cup or more of milk. Season to taste.
- Serve immediately.
